Hi,
I’m John Zheng Hill, an entrepreneur from Singapore. If you’ve ever felt stuck, terrified to start, or convinced you don’t have what it takes to succeed, you’re in the right place.

I believe the best lessons aren’t found in textbooks; they’re found in the ashes of our biggest failures.
My Story: The Failure and Rebirth of a Dream
My journey wasn’t a simple success story. It started with a decade of work in a local bookstore and a printing press, learning the business from the ground up.
In 2012, my co-founder and I used our savings to launch our dream: our first small publishing company. But a year and three months later, after a painful partnership conflict, my partner left, and the business failed completely.
That failure was the most important lesson of my life. I had run out of cash, my partner was gone, and our dream was dead.
But after attending a workshop at the National University of Singapore, I decided to try again. I built a new company from scratch, naming it Wardoh Books. I was determined to save the one I still believed in. I sold my car, got a small loan, and leveraged every connection I had to launch the brand.
Why I Started TheTipsLab
I built TheTipsLab to share the real lessons I learned from that journey—from the smell of printing ink and the pain of failure to the realities of cash flow and the process of rebuilding a business.
This isn’t abstract theory. This is a playbook forged in the fire of real-world mistakes. You’ll often find me writing these articles late at night (around 1 or 2 AM), fueled by lukewarm coffee and a passion to help you avoid the pitfalls I fell into.
My Mission
My mission is simple: to give you the honest, unfiltered, and practical advice you need to conquer your doubts, build your mindset, and start your own journey.
My story proves you don’t need a perfect start. You just need the courage to begin.
